Basjoo Design, previously called Nickola Beck Designs, was formed by Graphic Designer Nickola Beck in 1996 and is run from her studio in Nottingham, UK. She completed her B.A(Hons) in Graphic Design & Visual Communication in 1994 and freelanced for various companies in the East Midlands producing everything from corporate I.D to props for TV and theatre. During that time she married, both her and her husband were disappointed with the lack of imagination for tableplans and wedding stationery, this inspired her to design her own. The reaction from their guests was overwhelming, so in 1996, she started her own business designing & producing a range of exclusive, handmade tableplans and coordinating wedding stationery.

Nickola has recently moved the business on with a new name and branding and now specialises in designing contemporary, stylish, exotic, wedding stationery and botanical photographic art prints.

Nickola has two great passions, tropical plant gardening, hence the name Basjoo Design, named after a Japanese hardy banana ‘Musa Basjoo’, which also provides inspiration for the colour & texture in her designs and botanical photography, a passion and skill she has been developing from her early diploma years. Nickola is currently developing and creating galleries of original art prints of her beautiful photographic work.
